Anniversary of the death of Yitzhak Ben Zvi, second President of Israel
Yitzhak Ben Zvi was born on 18 Kislev 5645, December 6, 1884, in Poltava in the south-west of the Russian Empire. He died on 29 Nissan 5723, April 23, 1963. He was the second President of Israel, a pioneer in the period of the Second Aliyah, a historian and one of the heads of the labor movement in the Land of Israel. Yitzhak Ben Zvi held many public offices. He was one of the founders of Poalei Zion, chair of the National Committee, a member of the Jerusalem community committee and a Knesset member representing Mapai. He researched the history of the Jewish people and the Land of Israel. He was elected 3 times as President of Israel.
